PLAR
Play Learn Attach Relax
Welcome to the introduction to my PLAR concept which is a concept for Looked After and Accommodated Children (LAAC). I created PLAR to promote positive well-being in LAAC by supporting the adults around them to make sure that each day is filled with at least one of each of the PLAR features:
Play; activity that enables a child or young person to express their emotions free from correction by adults
Learn; activity that supports their cognitive brain to develop and learn
Attach; shared experiences, safe from harm, with at least one safe adult
Relax; regulation system activation through relaxation skills practice
If you would like more information about PLAR, or wish to discuss how to implement the concept in your organisation, please get in touch.
I would be delighted to talk more about Behavioural Activation, neurobiology and trauma, within which PLAR is based, and to share implementation strategies with you.
